Establishment of Saccharomyces cerevisiae bearing fusion gene for reutericin expression on cell surface

Reutericin is group IIc bacteriocin, heat-labile bacteriocin which is produced by Lactobacillus reuteri LA6 and applied in many food industries. The seminarians bacteriocin derived naturally in low levels. Therefore, several different researches have been carried out in order to increase Reutericin expression level by recombinant techniques. One among of many host cells for recombinant protein expression, Saccharomyces cerevisiae has been used as a useful host cell which has high nutritional value, applicable in food industry and probiotic. Here, we show a new strategy in which we aim to express Reutericin on 
S. cerevisiae cell surface towards developing probiotic for animal and seafood farming.  Reutericin gene was fused to α-agglutinin, coding for α-Agglutinin on yeast cell surface. The recombinant S. cerevisiae W303 bearing reutericin- α-agglutinin fusion gene owns the growing capacity on minus tryptophan medium. Data of observation under fluorescent microscopy also demonstrate that the recombinant yeast bearing Reutericin on its cell surface.  Taken together, our data strongly showed that we success on construction a line of
S. cerevisiae W303: reutericin which bears Reutericin on its cell surface.
